At 90 Degree Construction, we enjoy projects that bring new purpose to existing spaces. Our recently completed Toastique build-out at Brickworks in Atlanta’s West Midtown gave us the opportunity to do just that—combining the character of an older building with the infrastructure and finishes needed for a working restaurant.
This marks our second build-out for Toastique, the Washington, D.C.-based franchise, and we’re proud to help bring another location to life.
A setting rooted in Atlanta’s industrial past
Located at 1000 Marietta Street, Brickworks was historically a brick manufacturing facility. Today, it houses restaurants, specialty shops, and creative offices in one of Atlanta’s thriving neighborhoods.
West Midtown’s mix of former industrial buildings, residential communities, shopping, and dining gives the area a distinctive character. With Georgia Tech and Westside Provisions District nearby, Toastique’s corner suite and patio offer a welcoming place to stop and gather.
Preparing the space for restaurant service
Restaurant construction requires substantial work behind the finished surfaces. At Brickworks, adapting the existing space meant coordinating new plumbing, kitchen equipment, and service areas within an older building.
Before cutting the concrete slab, we scanned the floor to prepare for the extensive plumbing installation. Our team built out the kitchen, serving line, and dining room, installed kitchen equipment, and added a restroom while retaining the existing one.
These improvements provided the infrastructure needed to support the restaurant’s daily operations.
Custom millwork and thoughtful finishes
An existing brick wall adds texture and preserves a connection to the building’s past. Throughout the rest of the interior, custom millwork and carefully installed finishes give the restaurant a cohesive feel.
The paneled wood service counter anchors the serving area, complemented by floating shelves and matching wood frames around the digital menu screens. Behind the counter, glass tile installed in a herringbone pattern creates a distinctive backdrop. White countertops and black track lighting complete the space, balancing warm wood tones with clean, contemporary details.
Our millwork scope also included cabinetry, banquette seating, a planter, and a trellis. Subway tile and herringbone detailing carried that attention to craftsmanship into the restrooms, while polished and sealed floors finished the interior.
An inviting outdoor space
The corner location includes a patio that extends the dining experience outdoors. Our team installed patio lighting and a fan, helping create a comfortable spot for guests to enjoy the West Midtown setting.
Bringing it all together
Toastique Brickworks reflects the coordination that goes into a restaurant build-out—from scanning the slab and installing plumbing to fitting custom cabinetry and completing the final tile details.
We’re proud to have completed our second Toastique location and to have contributed to the continued growth of Atlanta’s West Midtown dining community.
